Designed for trade professionals and demanding DIY users, the DCD789 combines strong drilling and driving performance with an exceptionally compact body measuring approximately 164mm front to back, making it particularly useful when working inside cabinets, between joists, around pipework and in other restricted spaces. The current exact UK DCD789P1T-GB listing specifies up to 74Nm maximum torque.
A brushless motor helps deliver efficient power while reducing the mechanical wear associated with conventional carbon-brush motors. The compact motor architecture also contributes to the drill's short overall body, making it easier to manoeuvre in awkward installation environments.
The DCD789 provides a two-speed all-metal transmission, allowing users to choose between greater control for screwdriving and higher-speed drilling. Variable-speed trigger control then allows the output to be finely adjusted during use.
A 15-position adjustable torque control helps prevent overtightening when driving screws into different materials, while dedicated drill and hammer-drill functions make the tool suitable for wood, metal and masonry applications.
The 13mm keyless chuck accepts a wide variety of drilling and screwdriving accessories without requiring a separate chuck key. B&Q specifies maximum drilling capacities of approximately 30mm in wood, 13mm in steel and 13mm in concrete/masonry.
