Overview

Become a Monster Rider, hatch powerful Monsties and uncover the truth behind a pair of legendary Rathalos in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection for PlayStation 5, the third main entry in Capcom's story-driven Monster Hunter RPG series.

Set against a world moving dangerously close to war and environmental collapse, the story centres on Azuria and Vermeil, two neighbouring nations facing destruction. When an egg believed to contain a species of Rathalos thought extinct finally hatches, hope quickly turns to fear: instead of one Rathalos, twin Rathalos bearing the legendary Skyscale marking emerge, recalling a devastating conflict that took place 200 years earlier.

You take on the role of the heir to Azuria, the kingdom's sole Rathalos Rider and leader of the Rangers. Alongside Princess Eleanor of Vermeil, her Monstie Anjanath and your own trusted companions, you venture into forbidden lands in search of the truth behind the Skyscale Rathalos, the expanding ecological crisis and the renewed threat of war.

Unlike the real-time action combat of traditional Monster Hunter titles, Monster Hunter Stories 3 uses a strategic turn-based battle system built around three attack categories: Power, Speed and Technical. Power defeats Technical, Technical defeats Speed and Speed defeats Power, rewarding players who learn enemy patterns and select the right attack type at the right moment.

The third game expands the formula with the new Wyvernsoul Gauge, which can be depleted to stagger monsters and create opportunities for powerful attacks, including the new Synchro Rush, where your team joins forces for a devastating combined assault.

Exploration has also been expanded into larger, more accessible environments. Ride your Monsties across open areas and use Riding Actions such as flying and climbing without conventional screen transitions, helping make movement through the world feel more seamless than in previous entries.

As a Ranger, your responsibilities go beyond fighting. The new Habitat Restoration system allows you to release hatched monsters back into the wild to help restore endangered species and improve the ecosystems of different regions. Successful conservation can also open opportunities to discover additional Monsties.
