Muse 2 EEG Brain Sensing Headband – Meditation & Biofeedback Tracker

Overview

Train your meditation practice with real-time feedback using the Muse 2 EEG Brain Sensing Headband, a lightweight multi-sensor wearable designed to track brain activity, heart rate, breathing rhythm and body movement.

Muse 2 uses EEG sensors to detect electrical brain activity while additional PPG and motion sensors monitor heart rate, breathing patterns and movement. During supported meditation sessions, the Muse app translates this activity into responsive audio feedback, helping you recognise when your attention has wandered and guide your focus back to the present moment.

Designed for home meditation, mindfulness and personal biofeedback training, Muse 2 connects wirelessly to a compatible smartphone or tablet through the Muse app.

Key Features & Benefits

• EEG Brain Activity Tracking – Muse uses multiple dry EEG sensors positioned around the forehead and ears to detect electrical brain signals during supported sessions.

• Real-Time Meditation Feedback – Brain activity is translated into responsive audio cues, including changing weather sounds, helping indicate when your mind becomes more active or settles into a calmer state.

• Heart Rate Monitoring – Integrated PPG sensors monitor pulse and provide heart-rate information that can be incorporated into biofeedback sessions.

• Breathing Rhythm Detection – The built-in accelerometer detects subtle body movements associated with breathing, helping users practise paced breathing and relaxation exercises.

• Movement & Posture Tracking – A gyroscope monitors movement shifts to provide additional information about stillness, posture and body position during sessions.

• Multi-Sensor Biofeedback – Combines brain, heart, breath and movement data to provide a more complete picture of your meditation session than a basic timer or mindfulness app.

• 4 EEG Channels – Muse specifies four EEG channels using dry electrode positions TP9, AF7, AF8 and TP10, together with a reference electrode at FPz.

• 256Hz EEG Sampling – Brain-signal data is sampled at 256Hz, providing frequent measurements throughout each supported session.

• Track Meditation Progress – The Muse app provides post-session reports so you can review patterns and monitor your practice over time.

• Focus & Mindfulness Training – Designed to help users recognise periods of distraction and practise returning their attention to the meditation exercise.

• Muse App Integration – Pair the headband with the Muse app on a compatible iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.

• Bluetooth Wireless Connection – Uses Bluetooth 4.2 to communicate wirelessly with compatible mobile devices.

• Lightweight Design – At approximately 38.5g, Muse 2 is designed to remain comfortable during meditation sessions.

• Rechargeable Battery – Provides approximately 5 hours of use per charge, or roughly 10–15 days when used for around 20 minutes each day.

• Around 3-Hour Charging Time – Uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with an approximate three-hour full charging time.

• Micro-USB Charging – Muse 2 charges through a Micro-USB connection.

• No Gel Required – The EEG system uses dry conductive electrodes, avoiding the gels commonly associated with some traditional EEG equipment.

Why Choose This Product?

Muse 2 is designed for people who want more feedback from meditation than a conventional timer or guided-audio app can provide.

Rather than relying purely on self-assessment, Muse combines EEG, heart-rate and motion sensing to provide information about what is happening during supported meditation sessions.

Its responsive audio system is particularly useful for mindfulness practice: when activity associated with a wandering mind increases, the sound environment changes; as the session settles, the audio becomes calmer. This creates an immediate feedback loop without requiring the user to constantly look at a screen.

The lightweight design and smartphone connectivity also make Muse 2 suitable for regular home use without requiring traditional laboratory-style EEG equipment.

Specifications

Muse currently specifies app compatibility with iOS 13 or later and Android 8 or later, while noting that Huawei devices are not supported.

Ideal for meditation practitioners, mindfulness users, biofeedback enthusiasts and people interested in tracking brain activity, heart rate, breathing and stillness during guided meditation sessions.
