Designed to provide many of Sony's most useful headphone technologies in a lightweight and accessible package, the WH-CH720N combines Active Noise Cancelling, Ambient Sound Mode, Sony's Integrated Processor V1, DSEE audio enhancement, Bluetooth 5.2, multipoint connectivity and up to 50 hours of battery life.

At just 192g, Sony describes the WH-CH720N as its lightest overhead wireless Noise Cancelling headphones in this class. The low weight combines with soft oval ear cushions, synthetic leather and an ergonomic over-ear structure designed for longer listening sessions at home, at work or while travelling.

Noise reduction is handled by Sony's Dual Noise Sensor technology together with the Integrated Processor V1. Two microphones in each earcup monitor surrounding noise and provide information to the processor, helping reduce distracting external sound so that music, podcasts and calls are easier to hear.

When you need to remain aware of what is happening around you, Ambient Sound Mode lets external sound back through the headphones. Using the Sony | Sound Connect app, Ambient Sound can be adjusted across 20 different levels, while the Focus on Voice option can emphasise nearby voices without requiring you to remove the headphones.

Sound is delivered through 30mm dynamic drivers, with Sony's DSEE – Digital Sound Enhancement Engine helping restore high-frequency information that can be lost when compressed music files are created. The Integrated Processor V1 is also used to produce balanced tuning from low to high frequencies with clear vocals and reduced distortion.

Bluetooth connectivity uses Bluetooth 5.2 and supports both SBC and AAC codecs. Multipoint technology allows the WH-CH720N to remain connected to two compatible Bluetooth devices simultaneously, making it easier to move between a laptop and smartphone without repeatedly disconnecting and pairing again.

Battery performance reaches up to 35 hours of continuous Bluetooth music playback with Noise Cancelling switched on or up to 50 hours with Noise Cancelling switched off. For calls and meetings, Sony uses Precise Voice Pickup technology, a beamforming microphone and a Wind Noise Reduction Structure to help improve speech clarity.
