Overview

Capture what happens both on the road ahead and inside your vehicle with the Garmin Dash Cam Tandem, a compact dual-lens dash camera designed for motorists, professional drivers, taxis and rideshare users who want simultaneous exterior and cabin recording.

Unlike a conventional front-and-rear dash cam system with a second camera mounted in the rear window, the Garmin Dash Cam Tandem houses two cameras inside one compact unit:

• Front-facing road camera – 1440p HDR
• Interior-facing cabin camera – 720p NightGlo night vision

Both lenses provide an exceptionally wide 180-degree field of view, allowing the front camera to capture a broad view of the road and cross traffic while the inward-facing lens records activity throughout the passenger compartment.

The exterior camera records at up to 2560 × 1400 at 30fps with Garmin Clarity HDR processing, helping preserve important detail when lighting conditions are difficult, such as when moving between bright sunlight, shadows and night-time road lighting.

Inside the vehicle, Garmin's dedicated NightGlo technology allows the 720p interior camera to continue recording occupants after dark. Its infrared night-vision system reaches approximately 4 metres, with Garmin specifying around 1.5–2 metres as the effective distance for recognising facial detail. Night-mode recordings are captured in monochrome.

Built-in GPS and Galileo satellite reception automatically associate location information with recordings, helping establish when and where an incident occurred. An integrated G-sensor can automatically detect an incident and preserve the relevant video so that important footage is not simply overwritten by continuous loop recording.

The camera works with the Garmin Drive app on compatible iOS and Android smartphones. Through the app, users can view the live camera feed, review front and interior recordings, trim video, export clips, adjust camera settings and build a multi-camera Garmin network. The Tandem generates its own local Wi-Fi connection for transferring footage to the phone.

Hands-free voice control lets drivers save video, take supported actions and start or stop audio recording without reaching for the camera. Garmin supports voice commands in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Swedish.

For surveillance while the vehicle is parked, the Tandem supports Parking Mode when connected to Garmin's compatible Parking Mode Cable. When properly hardwired, it can monitor the vehicle after the ignition is switched off and save front and interior footage when motion or an impact is detected. The Parking Mode Cable is sold separately.
