In a distant past, a dire battle raged between an evil deity and humankind. After a hard-won victory, humans succeeded in imprisoning the malevolent god. However, their victory left them with a barren realm. Choosing to ascend, they took to the heavens, leaving the wasteland below.

Such stories evolved into myths. Now, humans possess the Wings of the Heart, symbolic of their serene existence in the skies. It appeared to be a perpetual era of peace, yet unseen forces threatened to shatter it.

The narrative takes wing when a young man invokes the Guardian Spirit. Their adventure unravels in a sky-bound continent, a place where hopes and dreams converge.

In the realm of "Baten Kaitos," objects like weapons, magic, and other essentials contain a power known as “Magna Essence.” This essence can be captured within cards and later released to regain its original state. These special cards, dubbed "Magnus,” are exclusive to this universe.

Every individual possesses a unique Magnus deck. From this deck, cards are drawn for offense or defense, with their potency influenced by their inherent traits and the synergy of the randomly drawn set.
