How to get a quote for your camera

Cameras are valued by our team rather than in the instant quote tool. There are two ways to get a price:

  • On WhatsApp: send the make and model, a photo of the front, back, top and screen, the shutter count if you know it, and a list of what's included, to WhatsApp. We'll reply with a quote.
  • In store: bring the camera, battery and charger to Gadcet Romford or Gadcet Chadwell Heath. We check it while you wait and pay you if you accept the price.

Which cameras can I sell?

We look at working cameras of all the main types: DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, compact cameras and action cameras. If you're also selling lenses or accessories, include them in your message and we'll tell you what we can offer. Unsure? Call 01708 922786.

How much is my camera worth?

A camera's value depends on the model, its age, its condition and how much it has been used. For DSLR and mirrorless cameras, the shutter count (the number of photos taken) is a useful guide: lower is better. A clean sensor, a scratch-free screen, an undamaged body and lens mount, and the original battery and charger all help you get the best price.

How to get your camera ready to sell

  1. Copy your photos and videos off the memory card, then remove it.
  2. Reset the camera to its factory settings from the setup menu, and remove any Wi-Fi or Bluetooth pairings.
  3. Charge the battery, and pack the battery, charger, strap and body cap with the camera.
  4. Fit a body cap or lens cap to protect the sensor and glass.

Camera selling FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask before selling.

Where can I sell my camera for cash near me?

Bring it to Gadcet Romford (61–63 South Street, RM1 1NL) or Gadcet Chadwell Heath (102–104 High Road, RM6 6NX). We check it while you wait and pay you before you leave.

Can I get a camera quote online?

Yes. Send the make, model, photos and what's included on WhatsApp, and our team will reply with a quote.

Do you buy camera lenses?

Include any lenses in your WhatsApp message or bring them in, and we'll tell you what we can offer for them.

Should I include the battery and charger?

Yes. Include the original battery and charger, plus the strap and body cap if you have them. A camera without a battery is harder to test.

What is a shutter count and why does it matter?

It's the number of photos the camera has taken. Shutters wear over time, so a lower count usually means a higher price.

How quickly will I get paid for my camera?

Postal sales are usually paid the same day your camera arrives and passes inspection, and always within 48 hours, by bank transfer or PayPal. In store, you are paid before you leave.

Can I sell a broken or faulty camera?

No. We only buy working devices, so we can't make an offer on a camera that is broken, faulty or won't power on.

What if my camera is in a different condition to my quote?

We inspect every device when it arrives. If the condition is different from what you told us, we send a revised offer, which you can accept or decline. A return fee may apply; see our selling terms.
