How to get your iPhone ready to sell

  1. Back up to iCloud or your computer.
  2. If you're moving to a new iPhone, use Quick Start to transfer your data first.
  3. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. Enter your Apple ID password when asked; this turns off Find My and Activation Lock.
  4. Remove your SIM card. If you use an eSIM, it is removed when you erase the phone.

We can't buy an iPhone that is still linked to an Apple ID, so make sure Find My is off.
